If you are someone who takes finals studying to the next level, then we have the perfect list of spots across Lakeland to get you into your zone.
It’s study season, boys and girls. That time of year where hours feel like days and days feel like weeks. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but final projects, exams, and presentations stand in your way. We thought we’d narrow down a list of the top study spots in town to help you get in the zone before you head back home (or hopefully stick around Lakeland for the summer!). Grab your comfiest t-shirt, sweatpants, and hunker down at one of these local favorites.
Concord Coffee is a happy place. The positivity that is tangible the second you walk through the door is so contagious, it’s really hard to be sad there. The staff is welcoming, the treats are delectable, and the drinks are a delicious way to get your caffeine fix. There is plenty of space indoors and out to claim as your mandated study area, but competition for the prime-time spots is not unheard of. It’s a-poppin’ joint, and you won’t be the only cram-studying student present. You’ll want to get there in the early afternoon to maximize study time, they close their doors at 7:00 pm.
Black & Brew
Black & Brew Coffee House and Bistro have solidified their spot in the Lakeland study spot hall of fame. Hall of Fame selection responsibility rests entirely on me, but that doesn’t discount how wonderful a place it is to get some work done. Black & Brew delivers soups, salads, flatbreads, and unbeatable deli sammies, not to mention their craft coffee creations, that will really knock your socks off. It’s the perfect place to be on a marathon study session from morning to evening because you won’t even have to leave your seat for meals! Most of the time you can study until 8:00 pm, but Fridays and Saturdays, they’ll let you stay until 10:00 pm!
Hillcrest is so homey, so comfortable, and so welcoming, but you’ll have to catch them while you can. If you don’t mind ending the session early or moving the party in the early afternoon, this is an absolute must-do. If you happen to need a place to study Thursday night, they re-open their doors from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and live acoustic tunes will fill the space. We love this new coffee house, and locally roasted coffee drinks will send your taste buds over the moon. Plenty of dedicated sitting space inside and out on the porch will meet the criteria for perfect student getaway.
I’m sure you’ve noticed the coffee theme we have going on here, so we thought we’d throw in something a little different. Tea Largo offers really cool alternatives to coffee-shop favorites. Instead of coffee, Tea Largo specializes in boba teas, and instead of muffins and cookies, they dish out acai bowls. Acai bowls are a wonderfully organic and healthy alternative to baked treats and are packed with fresh fruit. If you’re going for healthy study-fuel, this is your place. Open until 9:00 pm most days, it’s a great place to get comfy and lock into your work.
Mitchell’s is consistently wonderful. Loaded with plenty of indoor seating and a number of homemade snacks and drinks, it’s impossible to make a bad break-time decision. A central location in downtown makes it easy to meet up with others as well. Soup, sandwiches, quiche, cake, and hand-crafted drinks will keep you going. This is a pretty popular study spot, so you certainly won’t feel alone buried in your computer, headphones in. You’ll want to get there a little earlier on, Mitchell’s closes up camp at 5:00 pm every day.
Everybody loves hitting up 801 E. Main on the weekends for a fun place to be and, of course, beignets, but during its slower hours, it’s the perfect place to study. The early afternoon before traffic picks up on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is always a great time to find a cozy spot to study, but Sundays are generally phenomenal times to get going. If you require a break, beignets and coffee are readily available to satisfy your cravings. Open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on Sundays, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to claim your spot and hit the ground running.
