An essential right of passage into college is to sleep through your alarm for your 8 a.m. class at some point during your college career. In such cases, it is important to understand the necessity of getting yourself together quickly and effectively enough to make it appear that you did not just wake up 5 minutes ago. Here are five tips on how to get to class looking fresh and put together without wasting essential time.
00:00-00:10 Brush your hair
A nappy head is a clear sign that your bed was more important than your 8 a.m. at this crucial hour. Run a comb through it if it is long enough to at least hide some of the bed tangles. Put on a baseball cap to hide any cowlicks or greasy hair exposure. If you are a girl, spritz some dry shampoo on your roots or use a messy bun to quickly throw up untidy waves.
00:10-00:40 Brush your teeth
Nothing screams “just out of bed” quite like morning breath. Save yourself and neighbors with a quick scrub of minty freshness. Too crunched for time for even a teeth cleaning? Mouth wash works wonders, too!
00:40-1:00 Splash some cold water on your face
Your body has a natural response to cold that makes it appear awake and refreshed. Splashing some cool water on your face will help you wash off some of the leftover sleep and make you appear as awake as if you were already on your second cup of coffee.
1:00-3:00 Dress to “impress”
Luckily, this doesn’t require more than a pair of shorts and a tshirt for guys or even a simple dress for girls. Keep a few items handy that are a save-all in case this ever happens that is easy access in your closet and ready to go at a moment’s notice.
3:00-4:00 Pack your bags
Make sure you have all your classroom essentials ready to go in your bag: books, pen, notebooks, homework assignments, laptop if you need it. Grab a snack bar, too. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
And look, in under five minutes you are classroom ready! That’s even enough time to stop and grab a cup of joe on the way to class.
